Congratulations to our 2012 LMA Annual Conference Co-Chairs Jill Weber and Mark Usellis and LMA President Alycia Sutor for delivering with true Texas style. Everything was bigger (and better) in Grapevine! With remarkable attendance, diverse speakers, a case-study approach and unparalleled networking, we all left re-energized and re-focused to take our careers, firms and organizations to the next level.

The 2012 LMA Annual Conference had many highlights. First and foremost, thank you to the more than 1,000 attendees. As the saying goes, "Don't Mess with Texas," and the outstanding attendance certainly lived up to the challenge. There was incredible energy and collaboration with a crowd of this size, and we certainly walked away understanding the value of our association. The programming was highly substantive and varied, and the case-study approach provided everyone with concrete ideas and topics they could put into action when they returned home. Our industry has changed and evolved significantly over the last several years and the 2012 LMA Annual Conference highlighted the importance of leading and effecting the change we need to see. The targeted programming approach and specific programs for our various audiences proved to be a huge success. It was wonderful to see new faces and seasoned veterans together, taking our industry to new heights. A special thank you to all of our partners and sponsors who made the exhibit hall the place to be ― it was truly one-stop shopping. Betsi Roach and her staff, and Kristy Perkins and all her colleagues at ACI made the logistics appear effortless. And lastly, for those of us who were fortunate to hear the keynote James Kane, we think it is fair to say he exceeded expectations beyond words! With riveting slides and a legendary presentation style, he taught us how to drive loyalty with our clients and within our organizations. If we learned anything from Kane, loyalty is not about being satisfied with the past, but rather, an action for the future. (And we want your action to be to attend the 2013 LMA Annual Conference ― and tell three other people to attend with you!) We want each of you not simply to be satisfied with LMA, but loyal, and find yourselves telling others the value of your time, commitment and attendance to the LMA Annual Conference.

In this regard, Kane taught us the importance of understanding your audience (clients) and making it about their needs and their desires. So, to put this in practice, we thought what better way to create loyal LMA members and attendees than to understand their needs and desires and ... deliver them!

We want to hear from you. Tell us what will make the 2013 LMA Annual Conference remarkable, relevant and unrivaled for you. In the meantime, we think we might have one carrot to dangle ... VEGAS! If Texas delivered on "big,” we can deliver on "not business as usual.” Mark your calendars now. We expect 2013 to be one for the record books!
